Supporting the troops: A salute to the IDF’s unsung heroes

Quietly and with little fanfare, tens of thousands of Israeli soldiers protect our borders and citizens from harm.

Day and night, in extreme heat or heavy rain, the soldiers and commanders of the IDF are always on guard, ensuring the security of all of Israel’s citizens • Away from the spotlight of politics, anonymous soldiers do their unexciting but necessary work of protecting the country • The heroes of our generation stand guard on volatile borders and patrols of areas of friction and danger, always alert in the face of an illusory quiet • There, among the regular and reserve units, in the field and intelligence units, are the people to whom we owe our ability to go about our lives and the country’s ability to thrive

Under their watchful eye, the citizens of Israel can learn, initiate and create, travel and enjoy life without fear of a sudden terrorist attack – and who but the citizens of Israel know not to take this fact for granted. Always standing to ready to answer a sudden call-up – even if it’s at four in the morning or requires cancelling important family events – they ensure our ability to live safely in the Jewish homeland.

We owe these anonymous soldiers an enormous debt and endless gratitude, and it is to them that we at ‘Mida’ dedicate this photo montage.
