The UN and EU, who completely ignored terrorist arson, missiles and general destruction aimed at Israel for the past eight months, have now suddenly woken up. The prospect of Jews defending themselves is more than they can bear.
As Hamas violence along the border with Israel intensified, UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nickolay E. Mladenov, tweeted on Friday that “In light of today’s planned Gaza march, I urge all to exercise restraint, to proceed in a peaceful manner, and to avoid escalation. The UN is working with Egypt and its partners to avoid violence, address all humanitarian issues and support reconciliation”.
The day before, EU ambassador to the UN, Joanne Adamson, said at the UN, “We expect the de-facto authorities in Gaza to do their utmost to prevent further escalation. The EU urges all actors concerned to act with utmost restraint to avoid further loss of life, to prevent any escalation, to not encourage resort to violence, and to not exploit the demonstrations for other means. While recalling Israel’s right to self-defense, we expect the Israeli authorities to respect the principle of necessity and proportionality in its use of force. Serious questions have risen about the proportionate use of force which must be addressed through independent and transparent investigation …Facts must also be established regarding reports about violent attacks against Israel under the guise of the protests”.
“Reports”? The EU apparently thinks that Israel is making it all up, even while acknowledging, a little earlier in the statement that “Launching of incendiary kites and balloons has now continued for over half a year”. Now, they are demanding investigations into whether Israel has used ‘disproportionate force’ against this jihadist attack storm and are calling for Israel to show ‘restraint’?
The UN, the EU and its member states have been fast asleep, completely ignoring the terrorist arson, missiles and general destruction aimed at Israel for the past eight months. Since a Hamas missile destroyed a Jewish home in Beer Sheva recently, there have been signs that Israel might finally retaliate and actually defend itself. So suddenly now, the Europeans and the UN wake up and pay attention: The mere prospect of Jews defending themselves is more than they can bear.
The devastating ecological destruction was not mentioned with a single word in the EU Ambassador’s long statement, apart from the brief acknowledgment of the incendiary kites. The damage to Israel is still completely ignored.
Both Mladenov and Adamson called on “all parties” to “show restraint”, even though there is only one aggressive party, Hamas, and another party, Israel, which up until now has effectively restrained from properly defending itself and its land out of fear of what the international community might say and do.
Israel has effectively allowed the Islamic terrorists to keep destroying precious farmland and wildlife, and sending rockets into Israel, one of them smashing into a house in Beer Sheva where a mother and her three children just managed to save themselves. Parents all over Israel now have to explain to their children that kites and balloons can be dangerous, as apparent copycats in other Arab villages now send similar devices into central Israel where, if touched by a curious child, they will blow up in their face.
None of this was mentioned by Adamson or Mladenov, even though booby trapped toys — such as these balloons and kites– are strictly prohibited under international law. It is remarkable, how prominent representatives of international organizations conveniently and deliberately overlook certain aspects of the very international law of which they claim to be proponents, as long as it suits their purposes.
Deliberate environmental destruction on an unprecedented scale, blood-crazed terrorists seeking to tear down the border fence so they can get into Israel and murder as many Jews as possible, missiles fired at Israeli civilians, terror tunnels dug underground, young Israeli mothers and fathers being handcuffed and executed or stabbed just for being Jewish – none of these deliberate war crimes in contravention of all applicable international law brought Mladenov and Adamson to call on the Arabs to exercise ‘restraint’ in their lust for Jewish blood.
No. What got to them was the prospect of Jews defending themselves.

Marx argues that, “In the final analysis, the emancipation of the Jews is the emancipation of mankind from Judaism.”
Leftists often claim that Israel is provoked by the mere existence of the Palestinian people and wants to wipe them out. This is arrant nonsense. In fact, it is Arab-Islamists who are affronted by the mere existence of Jews and want to exterminate them all from the world.
Muslim anti-Semitism first arose centuries before the establishment of Jewish Israel. According to Islamic scripture (the Koran and associated Hadith narratives of Muhammad’s life and sayings), the Jews of Yathrib (now Medina) repeatedly refused to convert to Islam when asked by Muhammad to do so. They ridiculed him and waved away his claim to be the final Jewish prophet.
An angry Muhammad then cursed the Jewish people, describing them as “the offspring of apes and pigs,” and damning them in this world and the next. This explains why Muslims today regard Jews as the worst and most inveterate enemies of Islam.
Muhammad’s deathbed commandment was that not a single Jew or Christian was to be left alive in the Arabian Peninsula.
An oft-quoted Hadith saying of Muhammad that has become a part of the charter of the Gaza Strip’s rulers, Hamas, states: “The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews, when the Jews will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will cry out ‘O Muslim, there is a Jew behind me, come and slay him.’
Muslim Jew-hatred has undoubtedly increased in the Islamic world during modern times. It was fanned by the Nazis in the 1930s, and still further by Soviet Agit-Prop after World War II, which led to it becoming a core Arab-Islamist weapon in the ideological and political struggle against Israel.
Adolf Hitler’s book, Mein Kampf, has been translated into Arabic, and is widely read and revered throughout the Middle East for its pronouncements about Jews. Pakistan’s Sheikh Maolana Mawdudi, one of Islam’s eminent 20th century scholars, has written admiringly of the “ingenious and mighty leadership of Hitler and his comrades.”
In much the same vein as Hitler, Hasan Nasrullah, the leader of Hezbollah, has said: “If we searched the entire world for a person more cowardly, despicable, weak and feeble in psyche, mind, ideology and religion, we would not find anyone like the Jew.”
Muslims hold that once a place has been ruled by Muslims, it is “Islamic land” forever. What is now Israel was ruled for centuries by Muslim Ottoman Turks after the fall of the Roman Empire. Muslims thus regard it as a holy duty to wipe Israel off the map. Indeed, many Arab maps of the Middle East don’t show Israel at all.
Yet in more than 2, 000 years there has never been an Arab state called Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital. Those claiming today to be “Palestinians” are in fact Arabs. They could go and live in any Arab country, if other Arab leaders would agree to take them in. “Palestinian” is an entirely political construct.
How’s this for an explanation of antisemitism?
Remember the fable about the Emperor’s New Clothes? If not, just Google it. When the little boy lifted the psychological veil from people’s eyes by calling out, “The Emperor has no clothes”, the Emperor could have had the child killed. Then the people would have been afraid to acknowledge evidence-based truth.
As with the Emperor story, kill the kid and the embarrassing exposure of the truth dissappears. Hence the mindless animosity toward jews.
To Islam, and to some extent Christianity, Jews and the Jewish state of Israel are that little boy. Supersession/Replacement theology is debunked by Israel’s very existence.
– Each Noble Prize awarded to a Jew for contributions for the betterment of mankind is a repudiation of that theology.
– It’s embarrassing that the Muslim world, nearly one quarter of mankind, is so dependent on Western products and innovation. That embarrassment is compounded for them by that this includes a disproportional array of essential things based on discoveries, innovations, or inventions by Jews.
– Tiny Israel’s successful self-defense against the Reclamation Jihad being being waged against it by genocidal adversaries is a slap in the face of the supersessionist.
The Reclamation Jihad being waged against the only diverse, multicultural, freedom loving, vibrant democracy, in the Middle East – Israel. It’s the oasis of modernity in a sea of retrograde oppressive Islamic countries. In this respect, Israel is similar to West Berlin during the cold war.
EVERY JEWISH HOME built on land formerly under the control of the Islamic Caliphs is decolonization, decaliphization, and a strike against Arab/Islamic imperialism.
Ironically, as one who clearly sees the double standards of the world against Israel (and writes on our behalf at every opportunity) I thought that this statement was NOT actually all bad. I read it differently.
She for once brought up the subject to be checked as “proportionate” rather than “disproportionate” … the latter term subliminally already slanting the result of any investigation.
Remember investigation is welcomed by the innocent party as a way of clearing their (our) name.
Second, even though the word “reported” can be used in a cynical manner, the point is that the “violent attacks” in the “guise of protest” is being acknowledged as something to be investigated.
A tiny ray of hope? (If yes, it reminds us how important it is for those like yourselves to be pro-active and to keep up the staunch defence of Israel. If no, then the importance is doubled …)

Re “fast asleep” – a very misleading term. That would imply there is no global news interaction. That allows them a backdoor escape. That makes it sound excusable. No, “The UN, the EU and its member states ” have chosen to ignore; they weren’t asleep – they were and are wide awake and have made a choice. As always, there’s got to be a money trail. Find it, and you’ll find why silence is their choice.
